Well, I struck out in both CO and UT, but the good news is that my wife drew a tag for the first time in a few years, and I'm excited to help her find success with her first mule deer buck!

What are some things you've done to help your spouse who isn't into hunting have a good experience?

I'm also looking into hunting private land, and I'm almost positive there are challenges that come with it, so any expertise you wonderful people might have would be appreciated!

My wife isn’t into hunting and probably would never sign up for a mule deer hunt, BUT if she did I would treat it like I do for my kids. Keep it fun, have a nice camp, and do a ton of preseason scouting and planning to make sure we were seeing a fair amount of animals. I have thought many times that it would be nice to have my wife at camp.. for many reasons lol

Comfortable camp is #1 concern.

Limit the long hikes. And hikes both ways in the dark. Take breaks & "glass" if she's getting tired.

Yummy high energy snacks. Treats for in camp - wine, chocolate, or ???

Try for shorter shooting distances.

My wife likes to go on hunts, she watches the animals while I hunt.
