Ok gents...and ladies, it's that time again. I'm currently sitting on one PP for deer and one bonus for deer and elk in UT and a PP for deer in WY. As of now I plan on applying for another PP in WY, the rubies in NV, a hard to draw unit in UT and letting my second choice be a Wasatch Front West tag so that I can build another PP in UT and use the Wasatch as a back up plan if I can't pull a tag for the rubies or a CO unit with 0 points. My ultimate goal is to be able to hunt WY or CO ever other year, and occasionally NV. Right now I'm using the Wasatch to cut my teeth. Any feedback with this strategy?

I think it's a good strategy. I think it's nice to have an area that you can hunt every year, one that you can hunt every few years, and then some tags that come along every 5+ years that are higher quality. I think it's better this way than trying to hold out for the best tag in every state. Pick a few states to hold out in but try and hunt more frequently in others.

Don't forget Arizona, when I was playing the points game Arizona seemed to be easier to draw than some of the other states. At least the 40's units were.

What weapon in Utah? Have you considered the dedicated hunter program?
Also what state are you a resident in?

All my hunts will be archery. And I don't really have a specific question, just curious if my "strategy" for applications is sound or not.
