If I remember right, they didn't come on here and post that so, I don't think they had you guys in mind for the target audience. Truthfully, they would be fools not to tap into the 'look at me crowd' of twenty-year-olds.

Here's what I know about Mtn Ops and why Rokslide supports them:
Casey and Jordan are GREAT guys and real hunters! They support hunting, conservation, and feeding the hungry. Mtn Ops makes solid products. They also support this forum. I don't see any other supplement companies doing this. Mtn Ops is not trying to pull a fast one so, let's quit acting like they are. If you don't' like what they are selling/marketing, don't buy it.

Considering it says "exclusive program designed to unite hunters, fishermen and outdoorsmen under the MTN OPS banner. " I would have to disagree with you.

I don't think anyone was question rokslide or MTN ops or their relationship. I think all it was was a statement at the lack of tact on MTN OPS part to name it as such, and the fact that they want 100 bucks to be apart of a exclusive club of anyone..but you get a hat.

There was a discussion on another forum about the nutritional marketing. It seems Mtn Ops supplements were suspiciously similar to another fitness company (can't remember the name). I'll see if I can find it.
FNX Sport perhaps?

I'd be willing to bet a lot of people do their 30 or 90 day challenges and see results not from the supplements but the increased activity level and then brag about how well it worked without any baseline data.
Rokslide had a number of people that did the challenges including Robbie that did have baselines and I believe they all saw improvement.

Yeah, still don't see the issue. Mtn Ops can say whatever they want, but they are targeting a particular demographic, look at the graphics. Not something a 40 plus year old would generally wear.

It's 50.00 to join the group, and you get 50.00 in product, plus a few extras?? Sound like Mtn Ops is totally screwing people.....

Damn I'm glad elk season starts on the sixth. This is almost as fun as talking politics:)

Sorry, but this is dumb as shit. And pretty disappointing in the scheme of things. We have enough idiots running around acting like military, or stealing valor, we really don't need shit like this.

I also think it's hilarious they want you to pay 100 bucks a year to be apart of it. You can throw a rock in any direction and hit a MTN iOS code.

As far as their stuff, poser is right above, outside of their ammo, nothing in their line stands out in the supplement world. If I took supplements(other than occasional protein) I would like to support a huntingish company, but lately they seem to be moving farther and farther away from that.

I'm actually pretty surprised Aron would be apart of this ( maybe he didn't know and they just purchased the photo) considering his background and how I have perceived him online and over the phone.

They use my photos all the time.

I've been hunting and just found out I'm in the militia.

Free enterprise and smart marketing.....can't fault anybody for it. They didn't make anyone open their wallet. I guess if you don't like something just move on.

It wasn't my intention to have this turn into a bash thread. Mtn Ops is a good company and I like their products.

I hope for everyone that passes judgement on a person or a company are able to live to the same standards and expectations that you place on a product or a person. I see no fault in a company trying to expand its customer base or sales. At the end of the day that's what owning a company is all about. It's the consumer that should research the company/product to see if it fits their needs, if not no big deal move onto the next company.

More companies fall on their face than make it, if companies that make it are also able to support the hunting community, then IMO that's a win for everyone involved in the hunting community.

I hope that this doesn't constitute bashing, but I find problematic the effort to use quasi-militaristic branding in the hunting industry by using terms like "Ops" and "militia" even if they aren't meant to be taken all that seriously. It might sound cool to the target demographic, but I don't think it does much for hunting's public image. For years, anti-hunters have characterized hunting as a "war on wildlife" and many defenders of hunting have spilled quite a bit of ink trying to articulate a set of commonly held values/motivations that differentiate our pursuit from simple bloodletting. A common misconception held by those with unfavorable views of hunting is that it's just a bunch of wanna-be tough guys running around in the woods with guns, playing shoot 'em up with defenseless creatures. By no means am I the type who uses the term "harvest" instead of "kill," but I do think it matters how hunters "brand" themselves and I'm not sure that the "tacticool" turn is good for the long-term popular perception of the sport. That being said, I don't think that MtnOps is the worst offender in this regard and I don't think they're doing anything particularly egregious with this campaign. Just my two cents.

That is exactly what I wanted to say but you articulated it in a much better way. I can admit I was a bit grumpy yesterday when I strolled across this.

Is it bad that I would rather spend my $$$ on craft brewed beer than supplements? ;)

As someone that has sampled some of the mountain ops stuff my friends let me try it sure doesn't taste bad but I have never really done the supplement thing and don't feel as though I am giving up much on the mountain. If I wanted to get up the mountain faster or quicker I would hit the gym more....

I am sure it's a wonderful product but I do find it kinda like the emperors new clothes kind of thing. ;)

I agree Luke, I have always felt that just eating right and staying active, mostly hiking hills has always been the best. Protein shakes after a good workout seem to maybe help in recovery abit, but I think any brand will get the job done there. A quick search on Instagram will reveal thousands of people toting hundreds of brands as the one and only supplement of choice. If one is going to get supplements it is cool to support a company that supports hunting. For the most part venison is my supplement of choice!

That brand lost me when the bloke on insta called "mountain warrior" put a post on instagram with a tahr in a scope with the caption "if only I had another tag". About half a dozen people pointed out that there is no such thing as tags in nz and he obviously just didn't want to pay his guide another trophy fee. Had a look a couple of days later and he'd deleted all those comments and just left the ones praising him.

Ego and need for fame don't sit well with me in hunting. I'm happy to tell anyone that tahr hunting can be done by anyone for zero dollars and no tags. Some people just like to make themselves look bad arse I think.
