Have you guys seen this?

http://getmtnops.com/product/mtn-ops-militia/

It could be interesting. Way cool to see Aron in their Facebook ad.

Wait... So I have to pay$50 per month, and advertise for them? That seems strange to me

$50 every six months. You get a deal on purchasing their product. They get advertisement that you pay for. Seems like a really smart plan...for them.

Yeah. But... You can get 20 percent off through other avenues, and keep your $100 a year.

I was just going to say that. Spend 5 minutes online and you're bound to find a 20% promo code.

With the bottle of blaze, t-shirt and hat you are getting about $50 worth of stuff, so the early access to products and 20% off is bonus (although unnecessary). I agree that I don't really see the point in this and don't necessarily like the logo either, so paying for the hat and t-shirt is not worth it. Same goes for if you don't take blaze it wouldn't be worth it. If you take blaze and like the logo then why not... You may get to try a new flavor before the rest of us.

Do you get a shirt? I thought it was just a hat, blaze, and decal.

Not sure where they're going with this.

And I don't need skulls on everything I own either.

I've had my concerns about the pseudo military marketing campaign from the get go. Im not sure if portraying hunters as a bunch of Special Forces wanna-bees is such a healthy presentation. It does appear to be successful, though.

You're right, no shirt. Either way, after 20% off $24 for Blaze, $20 for one of their hats and $5 for a window sticker is $49.

I guess if you like the skull branding and want to be more involved in promoting their brand it might be a good idea.

There seems to be a lot of this going around the last few years. A lot of "operators" out there in all sorts of venues that never spent a minute in any branch of the service. They're definitely playing into that brand of marketing. It's all over the place when you really start looking.

What a joke. Pretty sad. (Pseudo military /militia / wannabe aspect) Effective marketing no doubt, but sad.

A perfect case study in new age marketing. Marketing used to be a large expense. Now Mtn Ops is turning it into a revenue generator! If you are older than 35, you don't have to understand it, because you are not the target demographic.

It's all about social media and the quest to be seen as a part of something cool. Companies are figuring out that they don't need to pay for marketing, there are more than enough like-chasers conducting their hashtag brand fellatio willing to make asses out of themselves. So much so that customers will actually pay them to do their marketing for them. It's total genius and a startling revelation about what motivates these people in our society at the same time.

The part I don't understand is who these campaigns actually sell product to. Maybe it's just a saturation concept? It sure isn't me. Myself and a lot of friends I have discussed this with are in the target demo but we get so annoyed by companies like Mtn Ops that we will turn to alternative brands simply because they don't annoy us as much.

It was suspect enough when cops started referring to themselves as operators. Now, apparently hunters are operators, too?
