Has anyone use the Mtn Bonded Refuge 4 person tent? Looking on comparisons to the Argali Absaroka 4 person. Seems like it’s about $100 and 1.5lb difference if you have the full nest insert.

Yeah I have used it and have loved its’ utility on long endeavors. The price difference is closer to $190 with both canopies seam sealed, a full insert and a carbon fiber center pole (you have to buy this separately from Argali and MTN BONDED includes it). There seems to be a ~22 oz difference according to what they both say on their websites.

Which I’d be curious on a real life weight comparison between the two as MTN BONDED gives weights of the canopy with cordage (43oz) and canopy, stakes, carry bag, guy lines (50oz). Whereas Argali just gives 34oz as the shelter weight. My guess is that that would not be the weight that includes stakes carry bag and any cordage. So there could be some more weight that Argali isn’t accounting for unless I’m mistaken.

The same question applies to Argali’s full insert. They give an overall weight but is that the weight of the insert or the insert within the carry bag? MTN BONDED gives the weight of the insert within the bag.

I guess it depends if a $190 savings is worth a slight increase of weight but it’s likely you could shave quite a few ounces off from the Refuge set up by taking less stakes and ditching the carry bags?

My experience is that I really enjoy the Refuge and think it is as good or better than any other tipi on the market. It’s very spacious, feature rich and I like the values of the brand.
