Look for any of you guys that use the MTD HNT 26 for hunting. What are the pros and cons. I am thinking about buying one of these stocks but my concern is not having much of a bag rider. Is this an issue?

There's a couple different bag rider options if you think it might be an issue. I have not found it to be an issue but mine sits in a braked 6cm so it doesn't move much.

The pros are weight, you can mod it to get the buttpad above bore, the lop adjustability (you can get it pretty short for young shooters), thumb notch and grip I really like, ability to use 3 round aics polymer flush mags, warm in cold weather vs aluminum/magnesium, the forend is rounded and more comfy to carry, fully length arca and folding capabilities.

Cons are price( however they can be found used and on sale at times), bag riding area is a little short, folder can be loud if you aren't careful opening and on a stalk, long action you can only use a 7oz 3.560 metal aics mag for tikka, buttpad is pretty firm and sucks on magnums (but obi cush pad fixes this). I've seen complaints about forend only being held three small screws and questions about durability/twisting under recoil but mine shoots just like all my other stocks chassis if not better

If the price doesn’t deter you, then I’d say try one. I think the biggest question is if you’ll like the chassis vs stock.

They are neat but I always end up back in stocks and just eat the weight penalty and folding option.

I’m currently trying an MDT CRBN which is a similar price point when you include DBM, and I like it way more, but I chalk that up to preference.

MTD HNT 26 is awesome chassis i like mine !! bag rider is no issue for me. Thinking about getting second one .
