MTB hunting shoes or boots

There is an area I was planning to hunt in Utah for Elk where mtb's are allowed.

Those of you using your bikes are you wearing shoes with clipless pedals or going platforms with boots? If you wearing boots do you notice if your hitting the rear stays with your boots on?

I take my mtb shoes and swap when I get done with the ride.

I wear trail runners and roll with platform pedals. My buddies wear boots with platforms with no issues.

Not a bad idea to use trail runners as a camp shoes to kick the boots off, figure if I do this will haul a trailer.

I use my boots with my clipless pedals, once in a while I slip off but it's no biggie.
