MT Region 3 Whitetails?

While we have an abundance of mule deer around Helena (I could should them off my deck most mornings), I've never quite found a good spot for hunting whitetails in MT region 3. My dad and I are planning on getting some single region B tags and was wondering if any Rokslider had some suggestions on places to harvest a WT doe during rifle season. We normally hunt whitetails in region 4 but with the EHD outbreak last year, you can only take a doe with your general tag. Thanks for any suggestions

I'd look at region 2 also if you haven't finalized a spot in the 300s. Looks like there's a nice chunk of BLM land SW of Nevada Reservoir. HD 291. Or HD 215. Looks like national forest, FWP, and school trust lands just SW of Helena. I usually hunt 283 but I feel like I see a whole lot more whitetail than mulies this side of the divide. Also, give a ring to some of the BMAs. They're usually pretty happy to talk about what animals they're seeing on their properties. So much so that I seem to get calls every other day from my buddies telling me about this awesome BMA they just called up that we just have to go hit this weekend. Ha.
