MR NICE: Is my body just whack?

I love my Crew Cab, but I'm really thinking my body type is just whacky. I started out with a medium yoke and medium belt. I immediately had to move to a large yoke as the medium cut into the base of my neck. Then just a couple days ago as I was packing out a relatively light load of meat, I had the medium belt cinched up as far as it would go and it was still slipping off my hips more than I would like. So I need a small belt? That just seems weird! A large yoke and a small belt? For reference I wear 33-34" waist pants. Any one else a large yoke and small belt? Kinda reluctant to change to a small for fear that the hip pads wouldn't wrap around enough.

I have a small belt and large yoke and it works well for me. I wear similar sized waist in pants. If its not staying on your hips and you have it cinched down all the way you need to go smaller or you will be hurting with a heavy load.

I have a large yoke and small belt on one of my packs and a medium yoke and small belt on the other. According to MR size chart I would be a medium waistbelt/ large yoke but the best combo is the med yoke/ small belt. I don't think it's real accurate you almost have to try them.

Glad to know I'm not alone.

Is MR good about swapping out "parts" until it fits right? I have always been intrigued by their packs but before I ever pull the trigger I would want to know that I would have a well fit pack. I guess the best option would be to find someone in my area that has one of similar size to what I think I need and see how it feels but that can be difficult since I am down in the flatlands of Kansas.

I'm a 33" waist and am using a small belt on my MR. It is almost too big sometimes (with very heavy loads). I'm also about 5'9" and using a medium yoke. I have wondered what the small yoke would feel like.

Since I live in Bozeman, when I was trying to decide between MR and Kifaru, I went down and tried on packs at MR. Super friendly guys, and told me up front the first time I came in that I needed to come back when I had at least an hour and a half to try on packs so they could get it adjusted how I needed it and walk around with it a bit. They even told me to bring in my rifle and any hunting pack supplies I wanted to so that I could see just how my stuff carried in it. By their charts, I needed a size yoke and waste belt that I didn't feel comfortable with. They swapped them out and the new set up felt a lot better. I would assume that they would swap out anything you needed if it didn't work for you. They have a pretty stellar reputation.

Yeah, I've already done that with the yoke. I know they are great about that stuff. I'm just surprized that their sizing is so strange that a large yoke and a small belt is required. I don't think of my shoulders/back as being particularly "large" and I don't think of my waist as being "small" either.

When I ran a MR pack it was before they had the XS belt option and said the small should go down to 28". I found that not to be the case as I bottomed it out and I was just a shade under 30" and bottomed out the waistbelt. I was a medium yoke/small waistbelt, but if I had to do it again it'd go medium yoke and XS waistbelt.

It's not so much about the size of your shoulders it's the length of your torso that determines which yoke.
