I bought an MR Metcalf a few months ago and just found some extra straps inside the lid - does anyone know what these extra straps are for? are they just replacements?

Also, what do you guys all have in your top lid?

Without seeing the pack are they straps that go from the top of the load lifters down to the upper portion of the pack to compress the top down under the lid?

"Quick attach accessory straps" They will attach to any 1-inch webbing on the pack to act as extra compression straps.

The MR Marshall I bought last year came with two straps that have an auto-lock male buckle on one end and female on the other end. I don't remember if those straps were inside the lid or were already clipped into the bag. I think they're primarily intended to be used as horizontal compression straps across the bag, but they could also be used to help secure a load directly to the frame if you're going bag-less.
