I currently have a MR Guide Lite MT frame with a Mule bag. This is my go to big game day pack. I would like to get opinions on the new MT Gravelly 18 bag as a replacement for the mule. I like the idea of the shoulder straps to give better utility. I am interested in the functionality of the Gravelly 18 on and off the MT frame. Not sure if it is worth the cost just to use the bag as a stand alone frameless day pack. I am able to add after market shoulder straps to the Mule but it would require modifications which would void the warranty. When I use my Pintler bag with the MT frame I already have the daypack lid with it if I need to drop the main pack for a stalk.

Old thread but I'm interested in the same thing. I'm debating adding shoulder straps to my Mule. Did you ever make a decision?

I have both and use them for entirely different applications. The Gravelly 18 doesn’t have a meat shelf and seems to be better suited as an extra pack “just in case” rather being a stand alone pack for anything other than running errands around town. I prefer to use my Mule for a day pack during a day hunt and keep my Gravelly as an EDC pack for town use.
