MR Beartooth and Sawtooth ???

What are these two buckles for? They are on both the Beartooth and Sawtooth. They are on the backside of the bag. See pic below.

As a Beartooth owner, I have the same question…

There's a male buckle that slides along the strap running underneath the pack. The photos on MR's website show that male buckle attached to the female buckle you're asking about when the load shelf is not in use (and detached when the load shelf is in use). I don't see what that buckle set actually accomplishes though. On my Sawtooth it doesn't seem to make any difference whether it's attached or detached.

I’m starting to think I’m missing a buckle. I guess it doesn’t matter on the Sawtooth though as you don’t need the male buckle to go to the front of the pack like you do on the Beartooth.

I should mention that I bought the Sawtooth first and the Beartooth bag separate. If I would have bought the Beartooth first and the Sawtooth bag after, I would have the extra male buckle. Can anyone confirm that?

I don’t currently have it anymore as I moved to an exo but I attached a pic of my sawtooth. It indeed has male buckle at the bottom of the Frame judging by this picture

I thought that frame was so so but man did I love that bag. The 270 degree zipper and the way it was layed out…still probably one of my favorite bags

I got it figured out. My Beartooth bag came without some extension straps that have buckles. There were supposed to be in the lid (during shipping from the factory). MR customer service did me good and they are sending me a set.

I thought I had something mixed up on both bags. My thinking later on was right though. I was missing two male buckles. The buckles on the frame indeed attach to the back of the pack though.

On the Sawtooth in normal mode, these two
buckles are joined, keeping the bottom of the bag tight to the bottom of the frame. They are also detached, as stated, when using the meat shelf.

EDIT:
I had previously stated that these buckles were used also to attach the Huntet Day Lid. That was a huge brain fart. There are addition buckles on the belt dedicated for that purpose.

I can't speak to the Beartooth, since I have no experience with it.
