MPI stocks

I know about all the negative from years ago, not really interested in that but more interested in how their product is today. Anyone get a microlite stock that is actually close to 9oz before final fit and studs, butt pad installed?

Would like to hear what kind of product they are putting out in the last year and how accurate their weight ratings are.

MPI was forced to go through a transition when Doc passed away, he was a good friend of mine - His daughter took the helm and will do a fine job, she has been there along her dad for a long time and understands the ultralight stock business very well - Honest people ....

I've got one recently from her and she did good work and took care of a mix up on the bottom metal inlet no questions asked. Fit and finish is good and it's light for the size stock. I got the first production tactical sporter and a longer 15" LOP and 1" pad and it came in at 26 oz. For the size stock it's light. She definitely knows mold making and how to make a nice stock.

I can't remember but was that around the weight they quoted or did it come out heavier then you thought it would?

It came out about 4 oz heavier than both she or I guessed it would but it was the first one she built using the mold. If they have made what you want before they will be much closer on the weight.

I've used them a couple times in the last few years with decent results. The last was probably the best fit and finish. It was a mountain profile with micro lite carbon/Kevlar weave. It weighed 11 oz as delivered and 16oz finished. Finished weight was within a couple oz of plan. The 9 oz micro lite is a really trimmed down stock with a short forend specially for ultra light rifles.
I'm thinking about putting the lightest one possible on my Kimber 308 Montana. That would take it down to right at 4 pounds!
