MPA Ultralight vs XLR Element magnesium

Looking to start building a 22CM for night hunting. Trying to decide between the Ultralight MPA and magnesium Xlr Element. Anyone have pros and cons other than ½ pound heavier MPA? I do like the looks of the MPA better. With the MPA I should still be a pound lighter with the components I've chosen compared to current rig.

Lighter gun on top of the tripod (more stable) would be the major advantage - otherwise the other beneficial features look to be the same.

I use an element for night hunting - built in arca rail, folding stock, adjustable buttstock, and pistol grip are all the key features I like.

I use a regular Element also.

Also if you ever did an ant to add weight for more recoil reduction / stability it’s easier to do on the element. I’ve got one incoming and expect to be able to vary the weight by 2-4 lbs depending on what I want to do with it.

Why not consider the HNT26 chassis? Can get it even lighter than the element MG. I ditched the factory folder on mine and found an adapter to run a buffertube style stock I made... I'm at 20oz including the folder mechanism and the stock, all with built in ARCA, thumbrest, etc.

packgoatguy have any pictures of your project? been looking at doing something similar to convert a non-folder.

Are you saying a lighter gun is more stable on a tripod than a heavier gun? Because it’s the opposite.

How so? The higher I go and the heavier I go the less stable my tripods get.
