Hi Folks,
I am building up a new rifle. I have a Tikka T3x Hunter Stainless Fluted in 7 Rem Mag coming. I am planning on putting a Leupold VX5HD 3x15x44 on it. From my research, I see that I have a few options to mounting I wanted some advice/opinions on what I should do, or brands...I can't figure out the pros and cons to easy on this one.

- straight to the receivers integral rail guides - https://www.berettausa.com/en-us/tikka-ringmount-stainless-s-ringmount/s1323904/
- straight to the receiver set screws - https://www.opticsplanet.com/v/171102-leupold-backcountry-ring-mount.html
- single Picatinny - https://www.opticsplanet.com/v/171348-leupold-backcountry-cross-slot.html
- dual dove tail system - https://www.opticsplanet.com/v/178561-leupold-dd-tikka-t3-t3x-2-pc-base-30mm.html

I assume that the single Picatinny and straight the receiver with integral rails with have the most flexibility to where you set your scope for eye relief. Weight will be less with the 2 straight to the receiver options. Single Picatinny seams the most solid.

What is your thoughts?

If weight is the concern, go with Talley LWs. They are a smidge lighter than the Leupold Backcountry 1 pc mounts, and cheaper.

I have sportsmatch and talleys, tough to beat either of those on the tikka. Lows should work if you choose talleys.

I've used Talley (with VX3i) and Leupold Backcountry (with VX5HD). Both did great maintaining zero during multiple hunts. I prefer the Leupold as they look better finished to me. I'm not a big fan of rails, it can be challenging to get the optic as low as possible, and can interfere with access to the ejection port.

I like sportsmatch because you get to use the existing rail and recoil pin on the front ring. Back ring can be a little more flexible which helps to get your scope exactly where you want it.

I have a Tikka with a VX5-HD on a Mountain Tactical rail with Seekins rings. Super solid but not light.

I also have a Tikka with with a VX3i on Talley lightweight rings.

They both work fine, depends what you're looking for.

Have Talley on one and Warne on another (VX5s). I'd express a slight preference for the Talley's from a mounting POV on account of the parallel vs perpendicular orientation challenge, but YMMV. That said, they're both solid and I haven't had issues with either. Would happily use either again on another rifle. Echo what others have said about preference in going straight to dovetail as opposed to using a rail.

+1 for talleys. I have a vx5hd 44mm that ive test mounted to my T3x with Talley one piece lows. Ample eye relief on the scope lets you pull the bell out on the contoured barrel leaving plenty of space. can probly do the xrta lows too
