Mounting arca to a factory Tikka

I caved and bought her the Cross! 35 bucks for a chunk of arca mlok rail off Amazon. She's shooting it really well and is doing dry fire practice every night.

If it’s a plastic T3x stock it has a threaded holes, one at the swivel stud (remove stud and replace with machine screw) and farther toward the action. You can also drill and epoxy t-nuts if you want more fasteners, that’s what I did when I had a short arca rail. I prefer the full length that’s in the photo (SRS), it’s a simple bolt on. Thinking of setting this up on my t3x exactly as you have.
My only concern is with the interface at the front end of the rail—does the forend become too narrow to make contact with the front of the rail? And function aside, you don’t find the mismatch in width to be too ugly?

You’re the only guy I can find online that has done this. Great minds think alike.

Thanks,
Jake

The SRS rails are slightly rounded so they match contour of the forend a little better than a typical M-lok/tactical style.

The arca rail will stock out the sides a fair bit out and the end of the stock. After looking at it a little but, I went with the SRS Hunters rail (short, there's a picture from someone else in this thread) and it seems to fit much better. I didn't like how much the arca protruded off the sides. But, if you need the full length arca, you'll have to live with it.

I’m not very concerned with ugly, there isn’t anyway a full length arca is going to compliment a classic hunting rifle look.

The SRS is machined to somewhat fit a rounded forend.

I’ve got a few Henderson rails that are flat but I’m going to try out a half round router bit to see if I can match what SRS is doing on their rails. As well as bevel the end near the Magwell so it fits better on a Rokstock, I spoke to the SRS guys at a match and they didn’t have any interest in doing it.

Another option - in the photo below I used a 13.75”x7/16 steel rail on a T1x. I don’t have the tools to machine a slot to better fit a rounded forend, so I just put a dab of marinetex each side of each fastener where the rail attaches to the stock. This rail is way stiffer than a typical alum rail so I didn’t bother adding any additional t-nuts/fasteners. It’s been thru 25 or so NRL22 matches and is still rock solid and ugly.

I picked up 3 mountain tactical arca rails for factory Tikka stocks last fall. They fit in factory holes with no drilling or anything to mount. I ended up moving all mine into rockstocks in the end though. If someone wanted one of the MTs let me know, have both new in package and previously mounted ones.

I got the salmon river solutions. They come with t nuts. Moved mine a bit so I used a coupler to make it work and poured some epoxy to ensure it holds. Pretty easy to doIMG_8432.jpegIMG_8431.jpeg

I wonder if the versions of Arca plates mentioned in the thread (Salmon River, etc) will really be close to the center of gravity or T3x Lite, especially, with a scope mounted. It shouldn't matter for bipods, but may be quite desirable for tripods.

I also wonder if anyone knows of a sling swivel with ARCA connection that can be used with the same plate. Shouldn't be too hard to machine one though. But here goes the lightness of the T3x Lite ..:(

I've got two of these, they're great. Mounts directly to sling stud positions.
+1

No mods required.

Howdy. You still have these tikka MT arca lite rails? Looking for 1.
