Mountain Tactical Tikka billet magazine

My 223 MT mags don't reliably feed.

Call him, he'll replace it (eventually, whenever the Gen 2 .223 ones come out).

Mine didn't either and he offered to replace it.

I'm less positive about the timeframe as every time I call it's "1-2 months away" for almost a year now, but MT has acknowledged the issue and seems committed to replacing it whenever the new ones are available.

I loaded a bunch of 77gr 223 bullets close to the lands in my tikka so I wasn't eating up case capacity (optimized?) and had to use MT magazines. I bought 556 semi auto and wanted to shoot the same load in both. Took all my reloads and just seated them deeper. Still shot great. Just wasted a little money buying different magazines. Just something to consider. Maybe just seat them deep and try it before you buy different magazines...?
This works if you have a powder that isn’t very compressed.

Iv had problems with factory tikka 223 mags as well.

I would buy 223 tikka mags from waters rifleman again. They are a very nice mag.

My Waters mags seat with great difficulty. Has anyone dealt with this issue?

P
Read the instructions. Idk if yours came with any but online he has instructions.

If you don’t want to read, they are designed to seat tight, and be filed slightly if needed. A little filing on the bottom side of the mag catch till they seat tightly.

I bought a 10 and 5rd Waters mag. The 10 is great, guess I need to file the 5rd, I didn't know that was a thing but hadn't looked into it yet. Thanks

I have a MT mag that does not feed well in my 7RM. Everything else I've used from MT has been great, but this was junk even with their bottom metal.

Would love Tikka to produce reliable metal mags with greater coal. I love their plastic mags, don't love the coal.

My T3x factory mag is allowing recoil to deform the tips on Hornady CX bullets. Will the MT mag fix this? Is there a better option? I assume the factory model isn’t securing them properly?

At least for someone who shoots factory ammo or is using a short-action caliber (and therefore has access to m+ or LA mags to get all the coal they want) Im not sure why people bother with aftermarket mags for these? I’ve yet to hear of a problem with a factory mag that would be solved by it being metal.

I'm shooting factory '06 and its deforming plastic tips. At least on Hornady CX 150 superformance. I need to try some others but MT is my only other option. I found a video on YT that claims its the factory mag.

I have 3 of the HCA WSM mags (and a HCA Tikka bottom metal replacement) that I would be willing to sell. Sent you a PM. Let me know if you are interested.

If all you are shooting is factory ammo, then the factory mags will work great for you. If, however, you are like me and have a 7-08AI that utilizes heavy bullets (162 grain ELD-X), you need to be able to load longer, so having the space to load out to 3.100" OAL length in a short action mag is the difference between a 2650 fps load and a 2800 fps load.

I ended up buying one of the MT mags, but it did not feed reliably. When the gen2 came out they replaced my mag with the one with the red follower. It has worked flawlessly for me. I do admit though, I haven't shot with it a ton. I am now out of the 300 WSM game so this magazine just sits on my shelf. If anyone is interested in it, make me an offer.

I just ordered two Waters mags in 223 because I can't get the COAL I want in a factory mag, I want to use a factory stock, and I don't want to swap to an AICS bottom metal. For my 6.5 and 30-06 I totally agree with you. I'd much rather have a factory magazine, but Tikka decided to limit them to SAAMI length for their 223s.

The only reason to buy is if you reload. A lot of people reload. Buying a factory mag + a new bolt stop could be more expensive then an aftermarket magazine. The bolt stops are pricey. I use the MT mage because I have a 300 win and it lets me load 168 ttsx and 175 LRX with a little more room.

What’s your typical load(capacity) of the AI vs std 7-08 of about 50g?

Thx
