I have pretty much narrowed my search to these 2 bags. Mountain Hardware I can get new for less than $200 and the Marmont is used CL but like new condition for $200. Which would be the way to go? MH is synthetic, Marmont is Down.

I would not sleep in a used bag I purchased on Craigslist, or anywhere for that matter. Bed bugs, disease, body soil/deterioration concerns. We all did it when we were younger, but today I just wont do it. I have a 30 degree down bag by Mountain Hardware that serves me well, no problems with it at all. Paid $179.00 in 2013, weighs 2lb 9oz.

I've had a Marmot Pinnacle bag for 10 years and it's honestly my favorite piece of gear. Super warm. I don't know anything about the MH bag, but I think the decision between synthetic and down is a big one that involves several different factors. A quick google search will give you more info than you ever wanted.

As far as buying new, I'd be hesitant to buy something off Craigslist. A sleeping bag is so important for safety as well as comfort.... but I don't know. The bag is probably fine. If it really is "like new" then I'd recommend it.

I have 0 and 15 degree bags and use the 15 much more often. I'm not sure how cold it gets where you are or how hot/cold of a sleeper you are.

Well im a warm sleeper at home, but last spring i froze my ass off on my back country bear hunt. It was as cold as maybe 28-32deg as it snowed one day/morning. The last night I had on every last peice of clothing i had a was still hella cold. Im not sure what deg or what exact bag it was but i was miserable.

where we archery elk hunt in eastern Oregon, we have temps that have dipped into the teens, 18 is the lowest I can remember in September. The two friends that had the marmot pinnacles were warm down to those temps. But in all fairness they also had good R-value pads
