Most expensive thing you lost while hunting

Wasn't me and not sure how much value but buddy of mine left his shotgun on the ground and drove away. Came back and few hours later and it was gone

I am hard on wedding rings, when gutting seems they just slip off during the process.Other than that I am pretty anal about checking gear and equipment when leaving a spot.

I once dropped a folded wad of bills, probably $200, somewhere in the woods. Maybe I'll find them one day...

where should we start looking?
In the Gifford Pinchot NF. Start at West Crater, and head towards Sunset Falls by way of Lookout Mountain.

Good luck finding them!

I'm pretty sure they were claimed already, I retracted my route and they were gone. I'm guessing they ended up on the passenger floorboards and jumped out when my son got out. Either that, or I set them on the roof.

Usually took off my wedding ring and watch before I gut an animal. First year married, shot a big doe, ring and watch in front pocket of the wool pants. Dragged the deer out to where I could get the Gator to it. Down to the barn, hung, skinned, quartered. Washed up a little and went to put ring and watch back on. No ring! Freaked out, only been married two months. Walked my track 4 or 5 times, searched everywhere, no ring. Told the wife, she took it better than expected. Laying in bed, realized i didn't go through the gut pile. 2:30 in the morning, headlamp on, searched the gut pile. Found it in under 10 minutes! Could have swore i took it off. Saved me about $2500 replacement cost. Marriage didn't last anyways. Guess i was out the money anyways!

Not me but my hunting partner lost a S&W 10mm this summer while we were on a scouting trip. We believe the lead rope from the mule he was leading popped the pistol out of his holster and fell in the river while we were crossing.

We knew when he had it last and when we noticed it was missing and would have found it if it fell anywhere else.

So he bought mine and I switched to a 9mm.

I’ve misplaced stuff throughout my life. But one time I hikes forever though the dark and was sitting next to elk at shooting light to only realize I didn’t have my release
did the same thing! wound up using my buddies right handed release as a left handed shooter! didn't end well to say the least.
