Most expensive thing you lost while hunting

Recovery cost. Truck was 3 weeks old to me so the wife, while not surprised with my shenanigans, was not all that thrilled.

Here's yet another adventure. This one was only about $600. This one was not my fault though. Dirt road we'd traveled many times but an underground spring was revitalized after some really heavy rains causing the road to disappear. View attachment 785643View attachment 785644
Haha, Your wife must be so stressed every time you roll out!!

Lost my keys for a while moose hunting this fall. Got out of the truck to take a dump and walked about 100 yards away from the truck to do my business. Mid squat I saw a decent bull heading away from me. Ran back to the truck to grab my rifle and that stuff and tell my dad. Got to the truck and the keys were nowhere to be found. They bounced out of my hoodie pocket while running. It took us a while but we finally found them.

Also lost a spyderco pm2, nebo headlamp, Carter too simple and various predator calls. It took me a while to figure out zippered pockets don't work well when not zipped.

Never take a dump without your gun within reach. That's when game tries to torment you.

Many years ago I lost a belted knife that came out of the sheath while stalking through the woods. The flap of the darn thing would never stay snapped. As I had stalked for hours through thick brush I realized I would never find it. About 3 years later while again stalking through the woods I meet a stranger, another bow hunter. After about 15 minutes of small talk he asks if I had ever lost a knife in the area and I said I had. He asked me to describe it which I did. He takes off his pack and hands me my lost knife.

It was such an amazing moment and I was struck by what a really decent man he was to have carried that knife around all that time and be willing to give it back. I offered him a reward which he refused. It left a really positive impression about this gentleman and human beings in general. Needless to say I put a leather tie on the sheath so it stays closed. Each time I use that knife I think of that gentleman and his decency and honesty.

Lost a hoochie mama. Found a nice sig rangefinder.

Came out ahead so far. haha

On that note if anybody lost an sig rangefinder in SW MT last fall, tell me what it is and where you were and I'll give it back to you.
Found a Hoochie Mama in rough condition in 2016. Colorado. Yours?

Nooooo….but I have to ask, how did you like it before you lost it? Enough to buy another?

I absolutely loved it! I was very frustrated.

I got a Javelin Lite used as replacement and it works good. I probably will order a set of ProHuntTac legs eventually for it. If you buy one, get the FHF or RedKettle Holster for it.

Lost an Iron Will tipped arrow while elk hunting. I looked for that arrow two seasons in a row. I keep picturing a $50+ bill just laying on the forest ground randomly, pains me that I not only missed the shot, but also completely lost the arrow/broadhead 😠

Other than that, a few years back a bugle tube fell out of my pack on the mountain while going through thick brush

A brand new Primos Trigger Stick Tripod was bounced out of a UTV bed on the first ride of a hunt in Colorado…still irks me.

Brand new bench made knife, never used, got grabbed off my backpack waist by a thieving tree in a bad section of rocks and aspen deadfall. Pissed off for 2 days about it, walked back through area with hunting partner and he magically sees it from 20 yards away through rock and deadfall. Only reason he even caught it was because it was orange. Everything needs to be orange and air tag that flashes when u get near it lol, thanks Joe.

Can they invent AirTag/bluetooth tracking nocks for tracking lost arrows with expensive broadheads attached?! Haha

A pair of Oakley’s deer hunting. I was running down a fence line to try and cut off some deer, never got a shot, and lost my sunglasses to boot.

One year a friend lost a watch after taking it off to clean a deer. I found it three months later pheasant hunting.
