Sierra 175 MK. Yes Match Kings. In 30 cal they work great on game. In smaller calibers not so much. I've had great results with 168 MK as well. Both are easy to get to shoot and in the past I've killed a bunch with them in a 308 Win. My best loads are using Varget but that powder seems unobtainable anymore.
What sort of game have you taken with this bullet in 168/175?

What's been your gr load for that performance?

From my research, there is a lot of confirmed success with the 155 out to 2000 FPS. I can’t dig up any review with 1800/1900 FPS. Temped to mix up some ballistic gel, set it at 300/400 yards and shoot it with a low velocity lid so impact speed is around 1800/1900 and see what happens

24 hour camp fire forum has a ton of threads and post about the 155 Scenar killing anything by from coyotes to elk and at long distances too.

It will likely be my long range load, up close on elk I’ll stick with a partition

Did some additional shooting this afternoon. Put all 5 shots of 42 grains/155 Scenar into 1/2” group at 100 yards! SD was single digits, ES was almost single digits until one of the rounds put it up to 29fps. Velocity were on a average about 30 FPS slower than 42 grains was last week. Caulking it up to chrono placement

43 grains has a little bit higher SD and ES but they weren’t bad ( SD of 10, ES of 34) but group was 1.25” with 6 shots at 100 yards

42 grains puts me out to 450 yards with 2000 FPS (confirmed expansion FPS for the 155 Scenar found on 24 hour camp fire forum). But I’d like to get out to 600 yards (1800 FPS) so I’ll load some slow rounds up and shoot them at 300/400 yards and see how expansion does at 1800-1900 into ballistic gell

I’m struggling to find a decent load for my 308 Winchester 20” barrel with a 1-10 twist.

What bullet in your experience has been the easiest to find an accurate kid for?

I tried nosler BT 165 with IMR 4064 from 40.5 to 43.5 (some pressure signs on 42.5 grains and higher) and couldn’t get any to shoot 3 shot groups under 1.5”.

On hand I have IMR 4064, H4895, RL15, H4350 and IMR 4350.

I’m an average shooter than can shoot as well as .5” groups but usually around .75” with my other rifles at 100 yards

46gr RL15, FED 210, Remington or Lapua brass, Sierra 150 SBT shoots almost match tight and hits thin skinned game hard. 0.010 off the lands and bullet jump is KEY with some 308s. In my old Remington 700 the hotter you push them, the tighter they shoot. Temp sensitive!

4064 is ok but opens up with powder charge. In my rifles anyway. I got 1 rifle that likes 165s and one that prefers 150s. Have you tried scenars?

My go to load for every .308 I've ever loaded for has been a 165 sierra gameking over 42gn on IMR4895. COAL 2.80"
I've never owned or shot a rifle that didn't put this load into an inch at worst. Both of my Hog Hunters, my LWH, AR10, rem 700 & an oddball H&R single shot all put them comfortably into a tiny group.
Same bullet here just with 44grs of RL-15. When I do my part I get .307" center to center at 100yds. At 250yds I am in at about .60"

Try heavier bullets , 180 grains is where I would try , unless your shooting really far , I kinda doubt you are with a 20 inch 308 win , skip the match bullets for hunting purposes and pick a bullet meant to take game , in 30 caliber there are just so many that messing with match bullets fpr hunting just I not necessary. I would start with the h4895 with the 180s and then imr4350 with lighter bullets for accuracy . Not sure how far your wanting to shoot at game .

We run 178 ELD X out of our .308 hunting rifle. 24” Bartlein barrel, 1:10 twist, Lapua brass, Varget, 2780FPS. Getting sub 1/2 MOA groups.
