Mosquitos

Leaving Thursday for my elk hunt and we will be between 8k-12k ft and I’m wondering if the skeeters make it that high? Coming from Houston I would never hunt without a thermocell or something, but I’m curious if I need to put one in my pack for the week? Thanks

Permethrin your clothes and get some picaridan lotion for your exposed areas.

In 12 seasons living here, I only remember twice having mosquitoes and only once them being bad enough to want bug dope and that was sitting on a wallow opening weekend. We were up for the day last Saturday and didn't have any mosquitoes, North Central Colorado

You shouldn't have much of a problem after the first cold spell at that elevation....summer for sure

^ Thats what I use in AK lowlands and such...works great. Not one bite in Alaskan swamp for a week last year
