Mosquito proof early season pants?

blick,

Being from South Carolina-where mosquitos are active many, many months of the year-I am always looking for an equalizer to keep those blood suckers at bay. I don't believe there is such a thing as true early season pants that help with mosquitos. There was a bug tamer suit made by I believe Shannon enterprises and you do have repellent treated clothing available. I do not know about the bug tamer suit but I have massive doubt of it’s effectiveness and it is hot to wear. The repellent treated clothing has some scent that could be problematic for hunting applications.
The best solution for me has been the Thermacell unit. Google for details if you are not familiar with it but I have found nothing that comes close for my purposes. You can get a small holster to attach the unit to packs or even pants-careful that you don’t cover the small vents on the unit.
I hate mosquitoes with a passion and I would do just about anything to avoid them. I will not go in the woods when temps are above 55 F or so without the Thermacell.

I have used a Thermacell every June/July/August in the WA highcountry for the past 4-5 years. It is great. The ignition can be a bit finicky once your over 5000ft but never once has it failed to ignite (unless I am out of butane). I am normally around the 6000ft elevation and I believe its one of the best options out there for mosquitoes.

I stand corrected. I wonder what elevation they definitely don't work at.

Always use permithrin for the red bugs and ticks and feel it helps a bunch for skeeters too.

+1 I used it for my Oklahoma Hog Hunt didnt have 1 bug issue Skeeters ticks or Chiggers. Whats nice is it lasts through a few washing of the clothes too. Orderless and easy to spray on and let it dry.

Agreed. When ticks are also a concern I use the Sawyer Permethrin.
