Currently dealing with 250+ chigger bites afree a brush clearing weekend and found that antihistamines help. Benadryl, Allegra, etc.

These days, we call them chegroes.

I've never had an issue with mosquitos until this summer. Now, any time I get a bite it turns into a nickel sized welt and burns/itches to the point its absolutely miserable. Very comparable to my worst run ins with poison ivy/stinging nettle.

Obviously, doing what I can to prevent them - but I need an option for the ones that get through. I've tried after bite, hydro cortisone cream, and calamine to no effect.

I have used Tea Tree oil to help with bites.

A good hair dryer works quite well for this purpose. Hold it over the affected area for about as long as you can stand it, take it off the heat long enough that it doesn't hurt, then back on the heat again for a time or two.

People think I’m crazy. But high heat neutralizes the proteins in mosquito saliva that cause the itching/swelling. If I get torn up, I’ll crank the shower to full hot and spray the hottest water I can stand for as long as I can stand on all the bites. Instant relief and swelling goes down.

They even make little ceramic heaters for this that will create a pinpoint hot zone over the bite to do the same thing. I still prefer the hot water method.

Two years ago, I thought I had gotten poison ivy in my boots the chiggers were so bad. It kept spreading around my ankles.

I discovered Chigg Away, a sulfur based lotion that will dry them up, repel them, and has a little benzocaine to relieve the itching.

In a pinch, if you can't find Chigg Away, a sulfur based dandruff shampoo like Selsun Blue has the same effect to dry up and repel chiggers. Its not labeled for this use, but it seems to me that it works.

I found these sting kill swabs on Amazon and going to give them a try. They look to be the highest Benzo % I've found. I've heard of using heat before, but never tried it. I've got a couple of the Ozark Trail handwarmers floating around already. I'm gonna give them a try. Appreciate all the suggestions.

These 100% work. I was a little skeptical when I bought mine, but now can't live without it. Works great for the kids. You do need a cell phone that has battery life to run it, but it goes everywhere with me. Amazon has them as well.

One thing I’ve been doing for the last few years that seems very effective for an at home remedy is mix baking soda and white vinegar into a paste and apply on bites.

Yup - Benadryl sells a cream that might help you.

Also - take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water in the morning - after you get it built up in the body, no more bug bites. I'm trying the ACV pills they have at Costco to see if the over-all affect is the same.

For seed ticks or chiggers, the only relief that I’ve found is to use a hair dryer and get your skin as hot as possible. This seems to allow you to sleep for 2-3 hours before you have to do it again. Tick and chiggers bites are the worst and itch for weeks. Mosquitoes are sucky too, but not as bad. Saltwater soaking helps too. I used to get chiggers at camp lejeune and a weekend hanging out at the beach seemed to help.
