This one has me intrigued. See the new blog that Jason just posted on KUIU. Someone else can provide the link if needed. Nothing like competition to keep everyone on their toes. Rain gear and what else????

Patrick, do you know the price point yet? Very interesting, if it's really that breathable you could wear it a lot more than standard rain gear.

About the only thing I have left to upgrade this year is rain gear. I was going for light weight and packable, and leaning Poseidon. Now I don't know. I look forward to seeing the specs posted on this stuff. Breathable (enough to actively hunt in), and quiet rain gear would make this bow hunter very happy!!

You know I just can't imagine any rain gear breathable enough to hunt/hike in... even enough to wick some moisture from my base layers once I quit hiking would be nice at least. I got to handle some core 4 rain gear last week and was definitely impressed with the stretch and how quiet it was. Fit good too. Not sure on the breathability numbers though.

I'm skeptical too Mike. Never laid my hands yet on any rain gear that was quiet, let alone breathable....We shall see.

I've personally never been too concerned about rain gear noise...if its raining hard enough to require to stalk in rain gear that covers a lot of the sounds and nearly all the hard shells I've used quiet up some when the outside of the shell gets wet.

Ryan, I can't give you a lot. What I can tell you is; all information on the new NX line will be out by Friday. It has shipped and will be in US Customs next week. It is designed for durability and strength and to be worn all the time. Because it is more durable, it will weigh more than the Chugach, but it will be quieter. With a breathability rating of 40,000 g/m2/24hr. it is extremely breathable. It is NOT replacing the Chugach, it is another line of rain gear. Price point to follow.

I will try to answer other questions the best I can.

Thank you.

What percentage of your hunting is done via rifle vs bow?

Good point, nearly all rifle hunting...only a couple hunts a year do I haul a bow along. Though even so, with a hard shell getting wet on the outside they quite up a bunch...snuck into bow rain on a number of goats, caribou, moose, and even sheep while wearing my rain gear. But I'm only wearing my rain gear if its raining. Otherwise yeah it can be loudish, especially when handling it in the store or at home.

Kuiu and the inner circle getting more of my money can't wait for this new jacket as the woods of nidaho are tough on gear and it rains a lot......

Seriously Luke? What about all those days chasing moose in neck deep brush soaked from last nights downpour? Or crawling up through the Kodiak alders after a storm? Not raining then, but dang, it's wet. I've heard that "only wearing rain gear if it's raining" thing many times, but I've worn mine many many time's when it wasn't actually coming down. Alaska is usually a wet world in September...

On the other hand, I agree that most hard shells get quieter when wet.. and just as importantly most vegetation gets quieter also.

Good point...thought of that shortly after I typed it, even on the video I put up on my solo slog in the AK range last year I mentioned that very thing. :D

well so ive been kind of holding off on posting anything on this. i have a lot of kuiu gear and am happy with it, but i just cant buy into this yet. as most might agree, breathability in pants is not as important as in tops. i find my legs sweat far less than my upper body does.
the new fabric, yukon, is the primeflex thats used in the yukon gaiters if im not mistaken.
i really like my yukon gaiters but i could not imagine wearing clothes made of the same material, its tough, waterproof, noise is so-so but i sweat like crazy in them... anyone else thinking this?

The difference between the old Yukon gaiter and the new Yukon line of clothes is the waterproof membrane has changed. With it's better breathability it should be better then the original. But I guess we'll have to wait and see when it come out.
