My uncle is wanting to do a moose hunt but his mobility is limited due to health. Can’t walk for long distances. Looking at possible rifle hunt within driving distance from Pennsylvania. Any thoughts on outfitters to check into? Thanks.

We hunted Moose in British Columbia, the hotel we stayed at before we flew out, there were 2 disabled hunters (wheelchair-bound) that had been successful I don’t know the outfit they went with I believe it was more them being upfront with the limitations and finding the right Accommodations. We were staying in Smithers BC. I know that’s probably too far of a drive

Thanks for the info.

If hes not looking for a giant but wanting a moose. Mikes outfitting in Alberta they aernt big but they are high success and I believe most are taken from around ag fields. And can get pretty close with trucks.

2 friends of mine left Thurs. for a Newfoundland moose hunt. One has Parkinson's so can't really walk either. I'll report when they return how it went and see if I can get the outfitter's name.

If they were in Smithers they could have been hunting locally with the Hoopers out at Babine lake. They've been outfitting here for years and have things pretty dialed in for those types of hunts

Just back from Newfounland. Had a great time. Picked the outfitter because my dad can't get around very well. He had chances at the 2 biggest moose in camp our week. PM me if you'd like more info.

I used Parsons Pond Outfitters in Newfoundland. You fly by copter to base camps. They use 4 wheelers and Gators to get into the areas where the moose are travelling. Sure, there is a fair amount of walking if thats what you are able to do..but if not you are in the general area and they use calls to locate and call in the bulls. Now, that was back in 1995 but i believe they are still in business. I got a nice bull moose and a decent Woodland caribou. The other guy that was there used a muzzleloader to take the biggest fullest racked Woodland caribou i ever saw..and i saw plenty. The guides are all family and great at it. You will eat well and they are super nice people on that island. You can easily drive there from Pa....but i flew. PM me if you want more info.
