I don’t get the secrecy concerns of the above post seeing as this is no secret, benefits children and it concerns general units.

My Experience =. NR hunter draws a general deer or combo tag. NR hunter is eligible to purchase 1 guaranteed NR Youth deer tag for son or daughter at discounted rate. I can’t remember the details about hunter safety but, my son had a home state hunter safety card. I visited the MWFP office so, don’t know about online options.

Thank you for you answer. Don’t quite understand the secrecy most seem to have about youth tags. Personally I would give up my deer tag and hand it over to a kid if it was an option.

What I don't agree with is why the state (government) should decide when a person is old enough to hunt.

I know some 7 and 8 year olds that are safer, more ethical hunters who understand the woods better and definitely shoot better than some 20 and 30 year olds.

Same with buying alcohol or driving or voting etc. there has to be a line somewhere.

Sure, but you can’t give your deer tag to your kid. The reason for the secrecy has to do with the ease of obtaining tags for our kids in many states and if everyone knows about all the programs the woods will be even more crowded than they already are
