I’ve toyed with the idea of hitting the Unlimiteds for several years. I was just interested in hearing some stories that would motivate me.

Good, bad, and ugly stories are all welcomed.

Honestly, you probably wont get much in terms of useful information. Ive hunted it several times (unit 500).
The good - killed one this year.

The bad - tore my ACL/MCL/Meniscus and quad 7 miles from the truck in 2019. Not a fun hike out.

The ugly - until this year I had not seen a sheep, and the crowds are getting larger in the units.

Actually, that response is what I’m looking for. Glad you were able to hobble back out.

I'd assume not many people that have been successful are interested in posting motivational stories to get more people in there. There is a lot of info on the web if you look hard enough and follow the hints.

I've been twice and my hunting partner has been 7 years. I took this year off because I moved to WY and $1200 is steep, especially when you can't devote a lot of time (no vacation days).

Like another member said, its getting more and more crowded. My personal thought is unless you have scouted and know where he is opening day, you're really relying on luck or somebody bumping them into your basin.

I'll be back, but not sure when.

Good: I enjoy hunting in one of the unlimited units

bad: never, not ever did I see a sheep in there.

ugly: welcome to sheep hunting and wondering if I’m telling the truth.
