Those of y'all who hunted in Northern Montana in mid/late October, what was the weather like? Trying to plan out what clothing I'll likely need.

Edit: I'm told it's in Phillips County, near the Missouri River

Your gonna have to narrow that down a bit to get useful advice.

I’ve hunted in western Montana for 9 seasons as a resident and 3/4 as a nonresident. It’s really hard to plan around. I seen -20s (actual temperature on the 4th day of rifle season) to 60s in mid November. In 2019 we had snow on the pronghorn opener in extreme SE Montana on Oct 10th. I would never consider hunting up here without a internal heat source, such as woodstove in a wall tent, motel, or gas furnace in a RV. I’ve seen most years in the 20s to 40s with wind. Best of luck

If you have a good layering system for your clothes it should not matter. But as others have noted, be ready to hunt in a T-shirt or possibly every layer of cold weather clothing you have. The weather here can make drastic changes here in minutes, you just need to be prepared for anything.

Dry and dusty. Might be able to pick up your buck from a dry water hole as a dead head. Hope I'm wrong. Serious drought going on out here right now

Even early Sept can see snow (a lot!) and freezing temps, or 80+. I pack just about everything I own as far as clothes and boots go, and usually wear it all at one point or another.

As others stated - huge temperature swings this time of year. My recommendation bring layers and be prepared for -10 to 75……. Common to be cold early and late and sometimes warm to hot mid-day, layers you can strip down and add on as needed.
