Montana Nonresident Alternates List ‘26

Let me start off by saying this is my first year signing up for the alternates list, so I don’t really know the drill. BUT- from what I had read online- I thought that the list is supposed to be randomized and people assigned numbers in July. I received an email an hour ago informing me of my ability to purchase an elk combo alternate license within the next 5 days. I went ahead and bought. I’m not complaining, but was I misinformed on the process? Did I get scammed by someone who was able to duplicate the MT FWP’s website to a T?

You are good to go and must have scored a super low random number. I just logged into the site and can see my position on the list as well so it’s currently active. Congrats on the tag and start planning

I wish I had thought to be signing in checking for my number in line already this week. It had to have been an impressively low number. Nevertheless happy to be blessed with another MT elk tag. Good luck to everyone else on the list!
