Hey all. Just wondering when Montana elk licenses get mailed out. I thought it was supposed to be within a few weeks after the draw, but it is almost September and neither I nor my party mate have gotten ours.

you should have received it months ago; I'm guessing you didn't check the box to that have them mail you your tag. You must have chosen to print yourself or the E-tag option

You are probably right.

Now I get to navigate that mess of a FWP site to figure out how to get it electronically. I see where to get the non-carcass tag. Will have to do a bit more digging.

download the "Montana MyFWP" app and then sign in and it will show you the "items held" and then you can also go to the Etags tab on the bottom of the screen and download your etags, if you get the message that says "you have no E-tags to download" you must have chosen to print your tags at home option. Or it will give the fwp support number to call which is 406-444-2950

Got it sorted. Thanks gents!

That is what happens when summer is your busy season! Let things slip through the cracks.

Major shout out for this thread!!! It was mega helpful, being a SD resident I was just assuming things get mailed to the address, but this sorted the situation out in a fast manner. Thank you rokslide for making hunting life much easier.

I suppose a pertinent question, how do you validate a harvest if cell service is shit?

From Montana FWP website below. Just don't log out of the app because if you do then you will need cell service to log back in and validate your tags.

CAN I ACCESS MY LICENSES AND E-TAGS OUT OF CELL SERVICE?
Yes. As long as you are logged into the app and have downloaded your E-Tags to your device while in service, no connectivity is needed to access licenses or validate your E-Tags. Downloaded E-Tags will be stored in the app for easy access. Validated E-Tags will be uploaded to FWP automatically when you are back in service.
