I'm planning on just getting the general tags but I have hope for someplace special. I don't really know they are great places , just hard to draw.

I'm debating whether to put in for a long shot unit and get a point and continue to the hunt general units I know or put in for and archery breaks tag, which has high draw odds...my only reservation is the crowds in the breaks during archery season..don't know if its worth it

It's a bummer my unit of choice is an unlimited draw that has to be your first choice. Never gunna gain any point! Oh well I can't complain

I really dont know where that'd be,I havn't done a bunch of research so I'm just shootin for gen

380 for a permit. You won't get it but if you do you just knocked it out of the park. Good way to build points in MT. In all reality you aren't going to draw 380 so use it to build points for a decent unit and future hunt.

I wish that MT would have a point-only option so people looking for a point would quit putting in for districts they don't even intend to hunt. They are just blowing the odds for people that really want to draw those districts.

I don't wanna be that dick, I just wanna hunt!
The only place I really know the area to hunt I'm not that crazy about But still going to plan on it with putting in for a Gen tag

I agree. If you want to build in MT you pretty much forced to hunt, or at least buy general tags and sell them back at a good loss. I bet hunting pressure would decrease some as well if people could just buy points like WY.

Its not your fault, Dan.

The state needs to make this change. There are people that have been putting in unsuccessfully for some districts since they first went to a draw, and some tags go unhunted because somebody accidentally drew.

I hate points, and I hate the publications that make money off advising folks on how to "manage" and take advantage points. All points only will do is create more point creep and further dilute odds, even with a bonus point system.

I agree with Jason. I put in for two HD's I'd like to hunt but they're terrible odds and much of the bad odds is due to guys just wanting points and not actually wanting the tag. If there were no points anywhere the pressure would spread out some. Point creep means that guys who didn't get in at the beginning are pretty close to shut out in many states.

I fully intend to hunt 380 were I to draw that permit.
