Montana boozers

My daughters boyfriend is a Distiller. They travel all over the US going to distillery’s. He is some kind of advisor.
They spend a lot of time in Montana and Idaho.
He is hooked up with a distillery in Butte.
He’s got me a bottle of their rye for me to try out. He’s bought a building in Butte for some type of bourbon he’s working on.
Anyone here had this rye and if so what’s your thoughts?

Isn't bourbon supposed to be from Kentucky? Otherwise it's only whiskey?
