Hi Guys, I was wondering if any one any input on the zones in the 700 Region in Montana. A buddy and I rifle hunted 705 and had some luck but i really want to bow hunt some mulies. So I was thinking if anyone had any experience in this region and wanted to give me a few pointers that would be awesome whether is be through a PM or on here. Where i was in 705 it was pretty open and had heard that some fires in 704 and 702 had been pretty nasty. Thanks in advance

I have hunted over there some in the last few years. Check out the BMAs. Some of the have weapons restricted areas the don't get hunted hardly at all. I also found the small portions of public land often hold as many, if not more deer per area because people think it is private and drive on by.

I think you can find deer pretty much anywhere in the 700s. This will sound like a broken record but the key is going to be getting away from other hunters. Both times I have been have been right around rut time with rifles. I personally would stick to the bigger tracts of public and find places you can glass as much as possible at a time. On the forest it is a little difficult to find places to glass long distances. Some of the BLM is easier. Watch for deer moving in and out of coulees on the BLM. Do not be afraid to look in the burn areas in the forest. Just look for the green stuff. I have seen some big deer in places I would not normally think they would be. If I were bow hunting I would focus on the BLM coulees or break type stuff in the forest.
