I didn’t draw an elk tag either, pretty disappointed but that frees up more time elsewhere!

I still have the general tag/license so I'll still hunt elk. Too bad that you didn't draw.

Father's Day campout this weekend, Thurs - Sat, with the men from church. Some of us set up last night, but unfortunately I had to drive into work today. We had 3 mature elk cows each with a small calf at her heels and one young cow on the hillside above us last night. I could hear the calves calling to Momma as they ran at her heels trying to keep up. I love elk country.

I bought a Springfield XDm 5.25" 10mm last year when I could still find ammo. I've hung onto a small amount of ammo but my practice with the gun has been limited due to the shortage of ammo. I carried it once last year on a summer hike in The Bob but returned the chest carry set up because I didn't like having the gun pointed at my crotch every time I sat down. I finally ordered an EMG Pack Holster from Ivory Holsters. https://www.ivoryholsters.com/product/emg-pack-holster/ I'll attach it to the Kifaru pack belt. The 14er has a relatively lightweight belt so im not certain how well it will carry.
I'm not sure what the lead time is but planning to carry this year while elk hunting.

I help my wife clean an office (house converted to an office) every other Tuesday evening. This little guy was resting in the shade next to their garage yesterday evening. He's a little too relaxed for very good practice on my stalking skills.

Great thread and pics so far. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the year pans out for you. I didn't draw anything (again) but like you, I am holding out hope for the antelope draw.

I'm working remotely today after I've cooked breakfast with my granddaughter.
I really have things that need done around the house before elk season comes in and Pedro needs to be on the trails this summer, but there's only so many weekends.

Nothing to do with hunting or fishing or camping, but thankful that my 18 year old is not hurt. Kayaks, backpacks, and gear were scattered, some that we need to try and find during daylight hours, but he's in one piece and asleep under our roof now.

Holy heck! Glad everyone is safe! What happened?
He wasn't paying attention in the dark and blew through a T intersection into a mailbox structure (8 mail boxes), a wood fence, and a post that held up a ranch sign. The truck then slid around and the tailgate clipped that big power pole. He's lucky that he wasn't hurt and that he didn't have passengers. He was wearing his seat belt and the airbag went off.

Stayed at Thompson Falls State Park last night. On our way to Troy area for the next three nights. Today is our 27th anniversary. Going to Bonner's Ferry tonight to eat, hiking to a Cabinet Mountains lake tomorrow, then Troy's 4th celebration on Sunday. Probably won't stay late enough for fireworks. We plan to fit in a little kayaking and I may cast a lure or two.

Paddled around a small lake in the afternoon. I caught two bass, one tiny little fella and one chunky fish.

Checked out the Kootenai River Swinging Bridge and Falls this morning. We were going to watch the parade in Troy but decided it was too crowded. We'll head back down for the car show and vendors, but we won't hang out long. I'm not a crowd person and there's no way that I can resist the food if we are there too long.
