Modifying Synthetic Stock- LOP 11.5-12.5"

Howdy Folks,

I'm new to the hunting scene and I just purchased a Tikka T3x. I'm looking to shorten the LOP. 12.5" works well in a T-shirt, and 11.5" would be ideal when I'm layered up. Has anyone modified their existing stock with some type of contraption for an adjustable shorter LOP? It is a hunting rifle, so I'd like to keep it as light as possible. However, I also understand beggars can't be choosers.

Additional Info:
-I can't find anything aftermarket that will work. KRG and Boyd are the closest at 12 5/8". If you know of something I've missed, please bring it up.
-Tikka makes a compact stock, but it's only 12.5"

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Cut your stock and use wood (or 3d print something if you want) and epoxy to make a new place/insert to screw the recoil pad to. Will likely need a grind to fit pad. Cervallati is a good lightweight pad.

This is from overseas, but a good overall process idea:

This is great. Looks much cleaner and professional than a lot of the other videos I've seen. Thank you!

When you cut it you can match up the profile with the templates at the link below, rather than a grind to fit (I've done both). Print the templates and match the butt to it. I've done this several times for stocks I've aggressively cropped for my son and it works well.

At the risk of sounding like an ass, but just as a double check since you said you were new at this…
Under 12” is very short for an adult. Like, abnormally short even for a very small person. Its also not normal to need a full inch different between clothing sets. You may very well have a solid handle on the length you need (if so I apologize, ignore and carry on), but if not and you are guessing or dont have a lot of experience to base this on, consider having a decent smith or instructor measure you up and recommend a length.

Most of those compact stocks also still have a 1” recoil pad. Just changing it out for a 1/2” pad also gets you somewhere. If you actually want an inch difference between summer and winter clothing, you probably want to end up somewhere in the middle, rather than at either extreme.

Nope, not an ass. I try and make a point to not ask questions I don’t want the answer to :) I had someone at one of the gun counters check me who shoots a lot, and I'm definitely 12.5". Someone else pointed out to me that layering up likely won't add a full inch once the butt is up to my shoulder, so I think you are on to something.

I much prefer buying a stock to cutting mine. I'm not against cutting mine, but I really don't want to screw it up. My account is too new to reply to the classified. If that ad is still available when my probation expires, I'll definitely reach out to him.

I appreciate all the feedback!
