Here's a little project I've been working on for the past few years. Never was a fan of how the LW's sat on the rail of my Tikka, so a little machine work and things fit much better. These are Lows, now about .100 lower to sit over the dovetail and match up to the receiver. Pics are with a M8 6x42 and have plenty of clearance. Just finished another batch and have several sets available. If you already have a set, you can send them to be milled for $30/shipped.

$60/TYD

How much shooting do you have on those and what, if any type of stress relief did you do to the bases post machining? I could see that small an amount of metal along the side along with the sharp edges/corners causing fatigue issues within the metal and possible cracks that could propagate out to other parts of the base? I know so long as the bases are screwed in, they'll be secure, but if a crack formed and then propagated up to the screw holes, that could cause a major issue.

I've done about 60 sets so far. The "ears" are not touching the bottom of the dovetail, there's a few thousands clearance. It's flat to flat...

Should try taking a dove tail cutter and machining them to slide down the dove tail. Looking good tho! What kind of cap is that on your bolt?

Interesting concept.

You should mill the bases 20 moa. I would see that as more functional than what you have been doing.

Thought about it but not sure it would work since the screw holes are perpendicular to the base

Considered that too, but the dovetail is pretty much decorative at this point. The shroud is from Hinterland in Australia. Don't think they do anything but silver and black anymore.

16Bore,

It can be done. I did it to mine with a buddy who owns a milling machine. I wasn't very accurate to 20 MOA, ended up being 23-24 MOA. Works great though.

Did you just change the shoulder on the screw recess or run with it as is?

Dang. Wish I woulda known about these. Might have to pick a set up after season

If anyone has 30mm's, they can be done as well. I'm out of them for now though.

I need to send my rings to you. How much do you mill off? So I can check clearance on the scope as it sits currently?

Another example of the milled rings on my recently completed Tikka
