Model 70 .375 H&H Stainless Custom shop

The painful story.
The useless Postal Service, who I now don't trust those morons with anything of much value anymore after they broke the stock on my Win Model 70 375H&H Custom Shop rifle is the villain in this story. Even with their insurance paid for $2k and a letter from Winchester stating that the rifle was 1 of 90 and the stock replacement cost was appx. $1500, they only gave me $500, the crooks. Guess some dem-wit or bean counter for the govt. figured if the gun was $2k the stock could only be $500. Wrong ya dork. I've seen many guns that the stock cost more than the barreled action - especially side by sides and double rifles.

Winchester helped me find a replacement for about $1100, but it was just a high end Grade III/IV French Walnut, Matte finish, SuperGrade stock with blue hardware. The one the postal morons broke was a polished/oiled GradeIV/V French Walnut, had all SS hardware - sling mounts, the side stock medallions and the grip cap, only thing black was the sights. Those usps dips wouldn't even let me take those off the one they broke and kept. When I asked, they said we reimbursed you, it is ours now. They probably sold that hardware for the $500. They reimbursed me about a third of the value/cost. She's never been fired, but unfortunately didn't come with the box. Oh well, she's still a beauty and I've only seen 2 others and they were in the $3k plus range 15+ yrs ago! I just might have to kill an elk or a chevy pickup with her one day!

I bought this used, and as far as I know it's not a custom shop rifle, just one that somebody changed the stock. Any idea what this stock style is called? Or what model M70 it would have been on?

that looks like an old Super Express (predecessor to the Safari Express) stock with the Monte Carlo cheekpiece.

The OP rifle is gorgeous. And yes, I would love to find stainless supergrade sling swivel studs as well as stainless cross-bolts. And for that matter an ebony fore-end!

Or could be off a pre-64 standard grade or featherweight if the red recoil pad is original?

Classic Super Express. Part of the giveaway is the checkering and the two cross bolts.
