Building a model 7 and looking at scope options. Primary use will be for whitetail hunting from stand or blind. Occasionally spot and stalk up to 300 yards. Budget up $1500. Which optic considering weight, length would you consider. Thanks for any advice.

I put a Leupold 3-9x33 compact on mine. A 2-7x33 would be a twin. Mine has the 20” factory light taper barrel, so it looks very good with the smaller scope. You’d be fine with a set and forget low power scope. A fixed 4x would work well too.

I have a Leupold vx3 2.5-8 on my wife’s 243 and a Swaro Z3 3-9x36 on my 7-08. They are both excellent options if weight is your primary concern. I was hesitant on the price difference between the 2 but the glass on the Z3 is worth every penny.

A Maven RS2 in 2-10 was also in that 12 ounce range and seems like a solid option.

Good to know. What ring and base are you using for the Z3? Can you get by with a low ring height?
