I have a mid 90’s Model 70 in .375h&h that I want to put a shorter barrel on and maybe rechamber to .375 ruger. I had a smith tell me he was unable to do it because of the controlled round feed cut that needs to be done on model 70’s. Can anyone recommend a smith that is able to do this?

Parish Davis in mobile alabama is doing mine right now. He is chambering a proof barrel, blueprinting and bedding the action. Very reasonable price and very responsive.

You're problem is the case head diameter. It's not easy to go down in size. With the CRF cut you can't solder a bushing in....so it's a welding operation, which messes with the heat treatment. If you can find a 06 bolt, that's an easy job to open it up.....but not many want to marry the liability of welding on the critical portion of the bolt.

.375 H&H and the the .375 Ruger are both magnum case head diameters.

Try Longrifles Inc.
Pretty sure Kampfeld will do it.
I think that Unknown Munitions may as well.
