Attached is my mobile whitetail setup. Decided to pose for that 75F November walk in to celebrate the rut.

Beast sticks & stand with a 3 step aider
Magellan fanny pack
Metopulus Safetech Harness
12’ 10mm Dynamic rope with 2 4” spliced eyes, 2x locking 14kn carabiners & a ropeman 2 ascender

I’m looking to retire my fanny pack. It’s over 10 years old, ripped up and smells like musty balls.

I’m curious if there’s any other chest rigs or smaller fanny packs that y’all have tried and enjoyed?
I’ve considered backpacks but I always end up carrying way more shit than I’ll ever need with them.

Sitka makes a lumbar pack that is good along with tenzing. I like actual backpacks but I do in fact carry way to much stuff.

I know what you are saying about back packs and too much gear. I was turned onto the eberlestock bandit and though I have yet to hunt with it, imo it's perfect sized. It carries my platform, sticks, saddle, Knee pads, and little necessities perfectly. It's a narrow pack so it likely could become part of the tree you are in. I modded mine so my gear hoist is permanently installed.

That's a sweet set up.

Last season I went with the Kuiu venture 2300. Plenty of attachment points. Comfortable to wear hiking around. Not too bulky. A little heavy but holds everything I need plus room for extra layers and snacks. Can also attach all four sticks horizontally at the bottom of the pack. Worked out great for me.

The Sitka Tool Belt has been my favorite minimalist Fanny pack so far after trying tons. I still feel like I carry to much stuff in that Fanny. Was going to try a chest rig, got the Kifaru chest pack to try out, and again, to much stuff. For morning or nights hunts this year I'm literally bringing the bare minimum. No pack at all. For rut hunts, I may use the tool belt. What I noticed all last year was that 1/2 of my pockets weren't even used in the fanny. I should be able to get away with no pack, or a bino harness and a pocket or two attached to that at maximum.
