Not sure the point of this post. Drinking beer next to the campfire listening to redfish busting mullet in the flats and everybody went to the tent at 8:30, usually it's me and the dog for the last 12 years tending the fire but now it's just me feeding the fire. I guess I just didn't understand how much I relied on her for a running buddy. Feel free to post pics of your good dogs and companions. Gonna be a rough duck season for me this year and would love to see some dogs living their best lives.20200329_131106.jpgPXL_20250105_130443465.jpgScreenshot_20251129-222818.png

Man, I have such a love hate relationship with my Weim. Hate is too strong though. We all know the trials that come with a dog. Im really going to miss this guy when he is gone though.

And then gets down to work…

Connie the wonder mutt - part Pyrenees and part bird dog - plays in the meadow with the puppy.

Connie doesn’t like sitting still very long, but she loves to go hunting.

He is retired from chasing birds now, riddled with cancer, helping raise babies. Ol boy moved out of mom’s house with me, then the state. Was at my wedding, moving into my own house. Still has his puppy moments. I don’t know how many pheasants he has kicked up, duck/goose retrieves, caught a cat or 4. It sucks our journey together is nearing the end.

My wife and I haven’t been able to have kids yet, so our dogs get a ton of attention. They aren’t good hunting buddies, but these furry logs are great at keeping my wife company when I’m not home. Hard to think about them not being around one day.

4th of July weekend this year

After losing my last dog I told myself never again. Thankfully my boy just had to have another to heal his broken heart and now I'm so thankful for her.

I feel for you. Put down my duck dog several years back and my avalanche dog this past March. It's still tough. That new Hardy song gets me sometimes when it catches me off guard.

This one was tough. At 8 years old she suddenly developed advanced leukemia and we put her down the day of the diagnosis.

At six months old he had his first epilepsy seizure. Vet gave him five years tops, he made it to fourteen.

I had to put my black lab down Monday after 14 1/2 years together. I always told everyone that she was kind of an idiot, but she wouldn't hurt a fly. My two boys loved her to death. They would use her as a pillow, and crawl all over her. And she would just lay there and act like nothing was happening. She will be missed by the whole family. Rest in peace River girl.
