Missing hunters in Colorado

Only on the internet would someone “not build a life saving fire” because of some fire ban somewhere.
I guess we are not gonna start a new thread. I won’t need a fire because I carry everything to save myself without it. If there is a fire restriction I don’t carry anything to make a fire. That is what I said.

So enlighten us all, what is it that you carry that will save your life without fire??? I think everyone on here is talking about a situational emergency fire when that is deemed all that will save your life. From a heat perspective and signal perspective. No one is talking about starting a fire at base camp on a 95 degree day surrounded by dead yellow grass. I think you may be lucky you have never been caught in one of these situations. I have never heard of any half intelligent outdoorsman purposely going into the backcountry without a way to start fire simply because there is a fire ban. Are you being for real that you do not have a lighter, matches or flint/steel in your pack at all? How do you warm up your dinner? There are fire restrictions in the wilderness I was hunting this past weekend but gas cook stoves are allowed so I could still heat up water for my freeze dried meals. I have never stepped foot into the woods without waterproof matches in my pack at a minimum.

I bet he doesn’t ever speed or jaywalk either. #rulefollower #rulesrule #tobymindyourownbusiness
Some fool on other forum is bragging about turning in his dad for shooting over the limit of doves. The guy said he was 16 when he did and has a long list of people he has ratted out. Says he never broke a law in his life. lol

Well, I guess this is one way to burn your spot. Now everyone knows exactly where these guys were hunting.

When the FNG's join Rokslide next year and post up the predictable "Not looking for a honey hole" post, they can be provided the exact coordinates of the trailhead and camp location.

Wonder if this drainage and trailhead will have more traffic next year due to the events of these last couple of weeks?

Won’t be significantly more than already hunt there now because that area is a busy place, but possibly the few more that are going to hunt there will now be carrying road flares in their packs.

You can’t reason with unreasonable people.
Not necessarily trying to reason. I see he has been a member here for 3 weeks and may have knowledge that no one has ever shared here before. This is a forum of helpful guys that share knowledge that could help one another so I figure if he has this knowledge, we could all benefit. Or maybe he logged into the wrong forum and didn’t realize he was on a forum heavily geared towards back country hunting…. I hope no one on here ever burns down his woods

Yup and not surprising someone from your county came and did the exact same thing breaking the law and killed 5 people from my county… I am out of this thread…
Can you elaborate on this??? I see you had the East Troublesome Fire in 2020. Says it was “believed” to be human caused and “possibly” a hunter by accident. Reports say it killed 2 people, who were the other 3? Or are you talking about something else? Do you have more evidence or insight? Sounds like you are saying they caught the guy??? Was he in an emergency situation when he started that fire? Was he hunting deer or elk? Was there a fire ban in place in mid October that year?

For example, Andy Dufresne crawled to freedom through 500 yards of foul-smelling waste I cannot even imagine...or maybe I just don't want to.
Andy Dufresne hasn’t popped up on my feed yet. Is he some new elk guru/influencer?

Your post is cryptic, but I assume he killed some giant bull in an OTC unit, and the “crawling to freedom through 500 yards of foul-smelling waste” is in reference to him navigating his way through all the side-by-sides and throngs of hunters where he parked at the trailhead.

Read it in the voice of Morgan Freeman.
