Missing hunters in Colorado

I have AT&T and was hunting a Colorado mule deer tag solo this week. I had one reliable spot in the unit with one bar of LTE that I found. All other messages back home were through satellite messaging on my iPhone 14. It worked reliably but you have to be pointing your phone at the satellite and following it to stay connected, kind of a pain. I ran into 3 really nice dudes in my unit Monday night who had informed me of this story and it has been in the back of my mind ever since. After this I will 100% be buying an in-reach or some sort of device as a redundancy.

As many have said, thank god the families have closure. Pray for safety over your fellow hunters. This forum is a great resource, I’ve learned a ton from the folks on here. As sad as this is, hopefully we can learn from this situation as well.

I’m very interested to hear the backstory. Hope it’s able to help a lot of hunters going forward. Very sad for the family to make even more public though.

The last sentence makes now sense

They will release identity later??

Yet they start by they found “The” two missing hunters dead

I think identity is already known of who was missing and they don’t start by saying they found two random bodies

Unnecessary and somewhat inappropriate speculation.
I agree. This is a tragic event and families have lost loved ones. The last thing we should do, since we have no information at all about the event, is to speak poorly of these young men. Prayers go out to the family and loved ones.

We were at 12k. Temps got just to freezing. Rain, sleet, and snow for 3 days with basically no sunlight. We had a hot tent setup though.
I always try to remember the rule of 3 when heading off into the forest. 3 hours without shelter in harsh weather conditions is enough to kill you.

You should delete your post. Your wild speculation won't help this situation and is completely baseless and in terrible taste. If this were your son how would you like to read posts from people with no idea what happened suggesting that it was drug related. Lots of young men go hunting and abstain from using drugs. The fact that they were from states where Marijuana is illegal is irrelevant. I'm from a state where Heroin is illegal. If I am found dead in the forest will you speculate that it was drug related? Most likely these young men died from exposure as we know for sure that they were ill equipped for inclement weather and we know that there was a storm in the area where they were found.
I did I apologize and you’re 100% correct.
