Missing hunters in Colorado

I get what you’re saying but spiking out for that many days with no pack?

Depends on how they roll. I always hunt with my "day pack", and come back for my hauling pack when I need it. The fact that they said they didn't find any of the stuff needed to take care of a downed elk, tells me they probably have day packs with all that stuff in them.

Seems like a lot of years here in CO hunters end up finding bodies out there, sometimes dumped bodies, sometimes lost hikers, and sometimes other hunters from previous years or seasons. Several years ago my buddy and I stumbled across a mudslide. We found a pair of trekking poles in the slide and wondered if the person that lost them was buried in it. Told a game warden about it and gave him the location. He said he'd coordinate with local sheriff for any missing persons reported.

Well that narrative says they were seen on the 12th at spruce hole trailhead? So that’s the next morning after the last ping and the weather the night before? I don’t see a spruce hole trailhead nearby? So they obviously didn’t have an issue w the storm on the 11th if someone saw them the next morning

It is often unsaid because it’s seen as disrespectful to even mention it, but more than one 25 year old dude enjoys getting high as a kite when camping - a certain percentage from all income and educational backgrounds. My careers since high school have always included a good number of young dudes, and the amount of crazy camping/hiking/hunting stories overheard of magic mushrooms, lsd, oxi and the like should scare the heck out of anyone. To the person when I’ve questioned what they think when bad things happen, it always comes back to “that person knew the risk and chose to take it.” Obviously they don’t always understand the risks.

The paramedic in the family has too many stories.

Our teenage kids chuckled when I told them parents just hope kids make good enough decisions to live to be thirty and be productive members of society so we won’t have to worry as much. Now that they are both in their 30s they look back at their friends who have been buried for stupid reasons and it makes more sense to them now.

Young guys like drugs? Really dude.

They like screwing too. Maybe they picked up hookers and they're hiding out... Or maybe we shouldn't wildly speculate at this point.

I figured it had to be. No way there was a random ping that far away shortly before last communication and I was the first one to notice

This article says there was wet clothes in the truck and none of their hunting gear. Sounds like they came back and changed after weather. Also says they hunted for a month in the crazies last year. That's a long hunt so maybe they're still getting it.
