Missing hunters in Colorado

Well if they end up not being in a bind. Might be an interesting conversation, when he learns she posted up all his waypoints
The spooky thing is that if I understand what I'm seeing on FB, their last known location was at the car, and a lot of their stuff was at the car.

Either they left their camping gear in the car to hunt nearby, or they got back to the car and met with foul play. My first big question would be whether their bows were found. If the bows are found near the car, that's bad. No bows, could go either way.

That's a good point. If the bows are gone then they're just hunting most likely.

If you stumbled on my truck while I'm hunting you'd still think that's a lot of stuff in it. Hopefully they bring too much junk like most of us.

Looking at the last ping lat/long given it seems obvious where they are hunting has plenty of water, they are trying to get to a spot hunters coming in from the larger road and trailheads nearby are less likely to reach. The whole place is within reach of one of the trailheads. Looks like a nice spot. If they come out with an average little 6x6 bull human nature will have multiple additional trucks at every trailhead. A monster bull will pack the trailheads.
Dang! Rokslide 'bout to burn another spot lol

Hope those guys are OK. watching this thread for updates

Last year my buddy missed 2 check-ins. He was hunting alone in 3rd rifle and his wife freaked out. She was convinced something bad happened. I ended up calling a warden I knew in the unit and he said he’d drive by his camp and keep an eye out for his sxs. About an hour later my buddy called me oblivious to the fact that he was already dead and being consumed by a bear. I told him if he liked being married he better call his wife asap.

I stumbled across a guy years ago that was lost. He had been wondering around for 6 hours. The guy was amazingly calm for being totally lost.

I remember one a couple of decades ago, prior to all the tech that should enable you to never get lost. He told his buddies on the radio and as the sun was setting in late October, I’m hanging my gun in a tree and running toward the sun😂 The mind can play interesting tricks on some.

Being literally the closest place to hunt Colorado for anyone coming from Texas, New, Mexico, Oklahoma etc., it's about the farthest thing from secret you can get. That's why I'm surprised these guys haven't been seen or found yet. Hoping for a good outcome.

I found a guy walking down the hiway with a bow. Seems he had a pattern of getting into the elk and then just chasing them. He was shocked when we drove through town from the other side

Im completely ignorant to CO and have only spent time in Wyoming western hunting. Is that area of Colorado really remote enough to get completely lost? Closest I've come to CO is hunting the Sierra Madres on the Colorado border and you couldn't get lost down there if you were trying to.

My gut instinct is that they are hunting and don't really care if they talk to their girlfriends or anyone else for that matter. That's where my head was at when I was 25. I foresee the wedding being called off....just saying.
Wouldn't that be something if all this is over a ticked off fiance that he doesn't want to deal with while hunting. Actually that would be a great outcome. One of the other comments mentioned foul play, I hadn't considered that but that's obviously a lot more serious. With technology and roads everywhere I figured a pair of guys had good chances of making it out, but the potential of foul play scares me. I was hoping there'd be a positive update to this thread today.

Hard to imagine they'd get super lost in there. The GPS locations look like they were 2 miles off the road and if they walked downhill they'd hit the river and roads. It is weird the last GPS location is back at the vehicle.

What exactly did the weather do over the last few days?

When I was 23 I left work early and headed up to NY with a buddy to chase the fresh flight birds riding a huge cold front coming out of Canada. I didn't tell anyone where I was going. I just assumed that they would figure it out. I mean, I took my boat and the dog..

When I got back (4 days later), my girlfriend at the time broke up with me and said and I quote "You would rather chase ducks than fukc!" I started laughing in her face, which of course escalated the situation...to a whole new level of anger that, to be honest, I didn't know she had....

Close call with that one. lol

We shot the pi$$ out of them greenheads btw....

Experienced hunters in similar terrain in Montana

Most of their gear is in the car

Started hunting in unit 81 Rio Los Pinos trail head on Monday 9/8

Last communication Thurs 339pm Through Garmin

Assumption is they were regrouping and going back out for evening hunt of a herd they saw

Bad weather of storms and fog with cold temp came in quickly Thursday and continued until Saturday night.

May have gotten disoriented in fog. No sos or anymore Garmin communication—have accessed accounts and points, no success.

She said in a comment on Reddit that all their camping/overnight gear was in the car...I wonder if anyone involved has enough sense to distinguish base camp gear from spike camp gear. Did they leave a big heavy tent and bags in the car and take spike camp stuff with them? Was it always their intent to come back to the car every single night?

I'm leaning towards not good outcome being that they have/had a Garmin but suddenly stopped communicating, but maybe they forgot to charge it before heading out. I think she had said the hunt was supposed to end tomorrow...hopefully they come stumbling out of the woods today or tomorrow with some quarters on their backs.

I doubt it's just a worried fiancee at this point but I hope I'm wrong... They have been missing since last Thurs. Reguar check-ins and garmin tracking pins before that. Really bad fog and lightning storms last Thurs-Sat. Most of their gear and packs were still in the vehicles. I'm just praying it's not a freak lightning strike or something. It would hard to get lost for more than a day up in that area...

haha, sounds like an awesome trip to me! Thank goodness you didn't tell her to calm down or you'd probably not be alive to post on RS. :ROFLMAO:

Honestly, I never experienced (or noticed) anyone caring about me or what I did until that point in my life.

Looking back on it, I should have at least told people where I was going. Back then, I did what I wanted, when I wanted, with no regrets. Honestly, it was quite liberating and awesome....

Hopefully these guys are just out there enjoying themselves.
