We had a great 4th season in Colorado for Elk and Deer, our group dropped three cows and two bucks, but missed a few opportunities at those oh so elusive bulls. We were fortunate to have the bulls square off in the fields next to our camp but we could never get in front of them to cut them off. Two guys had long shots but didn't calculate correctly the elevation change and shot low on both of their attempts. Shot a nice 4x4 as did another in our group but all of us saw a lot of animals on both public and private land. we hunted in unit 11

Sounds like a productive trip!

Your friends were missing low because you were hunting at a lower elevation than you expected to be? Is that what you're saying?

No we sighted in at the ranch at 500 yards but when we faced severe up hill shots the angles were over 10 degrees we hit low

That does sound like a good trip. However, when shooting up or down hill you have to hold lower--they probably shot high if shot angle was the culprit.
