For the last few seasons, I've been running a marsupial chest harness that I attached to the straps of my backpack. I've been running it like this so that I can remove my pack, binos (Leupold BX-4's), and sidearm (which is in a marsupial holster under my chest pack) in one piece. I like this setup for walking, still hunting, and scouting.

However, when saddle hunting or stand hunting, I think I need I'm thinking of a kenai chest rig for my sidearm and a simple bino harness for my binos. Some harnesses, like Tethrd's, seem like they would dig in and be uncomfortable. I kinda like the Rick Young Ultra Light model.

Looking for recommendations on a comfortable, basic bino harness that is easily removed and hung from a gear hanger.

I only have 4 days of hunting with the Rick young but I really enjoy it so far. The downside I noticed is it can be loud when pulling the binos up to your eyes. I don’t think it matters for rifle hunting, but I could see it being an issue for archery.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a fix for it though.

I use RY's on 3 pair of bino's and have been using them for several years. I prefer them to everything else. I use his neoprene cover as well but when using, unless it's raining, it stays folded up in my pocket. I like how quick and easy it is to adjust tension and add/remove layers.

Rick Young rules. I've used RY for maybe 20 years. I can't remember not using it.
I don't want or need a pack on my chest.
For rain I use a water repellent fleece cover that resembles a shower cap. It slips right over the bino. I think it was originally made by Crooked Horn but anyone who can turn on a sewing machine could make one in 10 minutes.

I'm 99% bow hunting and I've never been busted from harness noise (skittish whitetails and elk). You might try adjusting the tension of the cordage. I guess once the animal is that close I've already decided to shoot or not.

While I have and like the RY, I've moved to either Marsupial Gear or a Recon lately.

They're easily adjustable and work, but I went to caring all my extra stuff in the harness.
