Mineral Rights

this is the perfect example why people don't want to sell. You might get lucky with something like this even if you don't make a lot of money in the short term on OG production. There are certainly no guarantees this scenario will happen for most people. I am assuming @Colorado Cowboy has more than 2 acres? There are people in OG areas with large farms or whatever that became extremely wealthy during the OG rush.
Dad bought 200 acres. He also bought another 160 acres that I own the mineral rights too, but nothing is leased and paying any royalties.

People don’t want to sell because there is an off chance they can hit it big. But for a few acres, I’m not sure what you have to gain.
After my grandmother passed away we found she was left 1,000’s of acres in mineral rights in Texas.
Every time oil spikes my parents get large monthly checks (25k+).
When oil is down its hardly worth keeping.
