Mildew in seasonal cabin

Great discussion, thanks everyone. I don't think trying to power something offsite would be an option at this time. The roof is sealed (2x12 rafters, no deadspace), but a wall vent cut in that I can manually open and close may be in my future. The cabin is 2 years old, and I am sure a lot of the moisture is from new construction, I am about 1/2 done taping the sheetrock. When I opened it up this spring there was not any noticeable moisture where the mold/mildew was, but black dusty staining I could wipe off with a dry hand.

I think if I go with the buckets of DampRid over the winter months it should solve my problem, and I can ventilate in the summer.

Thanks, guys

Very interested as well for my NW WI cabin. I mainly get it on tile not walls but also around the windows at times.

How much / many of them would you use in a cabin?
It depends on how big and how humid the cabin is. Sticking one of the pint sized buckets in each room is a good start. Using one of the gallon buckets or if you can find the big rectangular ~1'x2' box one that's great to stick in the attic or on top of cabinets in the kitchen area.

I have a cabin that I inherited that was always musty and had mold issues. Growing up I thought it was normal.
I cleaned it out and made sure it was open to air movement. And the biggest help is adding damp rid. I swap out the big buckets every 3-4 months.
I add one to every room.
No more mold or musty smell. I also close the place up tight and let the damp rid do it’s job. You want to keep the damp humid air out while it’s closed up.
